Hi there,

I registered up with slashgear just so I could add this reply. Since this review is linked directly to wiki, I figured this is going to be one of the most read commentaries about tha Samsung Wave and I feel that the inaccuracies in the text should be cleared up, especially two things which would probably turn people away from considering the devise.

First, it's not true at all that the phone can only run on application at a time. All you have to do is hold the menu button a couple seconds and the the task manager pops up, showing you all the the active apps and widgets. You can then either select one to go to, close them individually, or select "close all applications" to shut them down in one go.

Next, the software is ROCK solid. In fact, the reviews in the German press have absolutely glowed about this particular "feature" and my own experience with the phone confirms it. Nothing hangs or stutters, no matter what you do. When I first got my phone, I tested the HD video capabilities by making a 1Gb clip. It was ready to be played back almost instantly, I could edit it, modify it, anything, all with no hesitation at all. It handled the file better than the laptop I'm typing on now, no exageration.

The camera functions incredible, in fact, and truly come very close to making it pointless to carry around a compact camera. The quality of the pics is also way above par for smart or "feature" phones. In low-light, of course, the pics are going to be grainy, there's just NO substitute for a large lens and the tiny peep-holes on all cameras are always going to be an impasse.

The real weakness of the phone is actually the Samsung PC software called Kies, it's not ready yet, it's horrible and frustrating. Of the now 200 users reviews of this phone (today is August 13th, 2010) at the German Amazon website, virtually EVERY negative comment or low-star rating revolves around this software, and they're right(!). But, hey, it's a PC program and it'll be improved soon, I'm certain of that.

Also, of course the bada app selection is meager, but growing. It'll never compete with Apple or Android, but Samsung is already or will soon be the largest phone manufacturer in the world and you'd be mistaken to right of their OS out of the box. They're already delivering more phones with it and the range is growing quickly.

I'll just sum up by saying that this is a very competetive phone in this this market. Maybe it's not being marketed in the US, but it's causing quite a splash (hehe) over here! I'm loving virtually everything about it so far.

This message is for Vincent, SlashGear Editor.

Hi Vincent,

I love your videos and info. about this Samsung s8500 wave.

I want to buy this phone as soon as I have all info. about this phone; therefore I have a few questions to ask you, and hope you can help me with.

1. I live in the US, and want to buy this phone. Where can I buy this phone that it is can be used in the US without a problem with 2G or 3G network?
I heard 3G in Europe is different from 3G in the US, how about 2G, is it different too?
2. This phone is unlocked. Does it mean I can use it anywhere in the world including the US? You think this make sense?

3. Your videos about this phone has stopped at when you put your T-mobile Sim card( I assumed you live in the US, is it right???) in it to check if the phone will work with this kind of Sim card( 2G or 3G????), but I'm still waiting for your more videos about this.
Are you making more videos about this phone soon? I cannot get enough about this phone videos because your videos about this phone is THE BEST of all videos from the other websites I've been watching.
I love to see more video details about this phone as you represented in your videos such as how to open the wooden box, insert the Sim card, etc......

4. Where did you buy this phone from(what country)? and how much is it? It looks very genuine to me that it was made in Korea, and it was packed very well for shipping.

5. Do you live in the US and what State? And are you Vietnamese? I'm just curious only!

I'm waiting for your reply and I thank you so much for your videos and time. I will recommend this website to friends for sure!!!

I agree with above comment, see the mobileburn.com indepth videos,

also, they shot HD video during the review; then saved and played it back without any battery issues... all at one sitting...

The problems you faced are due to it not being final firmware I think...
