Samsung unveils 55-inch 240Hz 3D 1080p TV

I have said it before, I am looking forward to watching 3D movies and TV shows in my home, but the caveat is that the 3D has to look good. I'm talking movie theater caliber 3D, not that junk like NBC pulled on Chuck. I have already talked about a Panasonic 3D HDTV a few weeks back that was unveiled. Today Samsung is back with its own 3D HDTV.

The Samsung set is a 50-inch 3D HDTV with full 1080p resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. That will provide 120Hz to each eye and make for smooth and fluid motion. An early prototype model is being shown off in Seoul at IMID 2009.

With all the hoopla around 3DTV right now, you can bet that we will see tons of 3DTVs at CES this year. I hope they can figure out a way to make the sets cheap enough that normal folks can afford them. Better yet, I would like 3D with no need for glasses.
