Samsung SCH-W960 3D phone launching this month

Details are scant on this one, but Samsung have announced that they will be launching their first commercial 3D phone sometime this month.  The Samsung SCH-W960 has a 3.2-inch WQVGA AMOLED touchscreen and dual DMB TV tuners capable of receiving terrestrial and satellite signals.  Most interesting, though, is the 3D functionality; the W960 can apparently convert regular 2D content into 3D.

There's also talk of a 3D TV channel specially for the SCH-W960.  Other specifications include a 3-megapixel camera with Xenon flash, DNSe 2.0 and DivX support, along with HSDPA connectivity.

So far it seems the Samsung SCH-W960 will be a Korea-only release, at least initially.  We're guessing that, depending on its success there, the company will consider launching the technology in North America and Europe, though likely in a device that lacks the digital TV tuners.
