Samsung NX mini tipped to offer a big sensor in a tiny body

Large camera sensors offer image quality that isn't found in cameras with smaller sensors, which are far more common and found in nearly all point-and-shoot compact cameras. Using a camera with a large sensor often means using a camera that is larger overall, something that doesn't appeal to some users. It is that particular photography niche that Samsung's NX mini targets.

Also known as the model NXF1, the Samsung NX mini digital camera surfaced in a leak on the Chinese website NXrumors, where they nabbed what appears to be a press image of the camera, the first known one to surface since the specifications leak that hit the Web late last month.

With the NX mini is said to be a huge 1-inch image sensor offering photographers 20-megapixels, something that wouldn't be guessed by its comparatively tiny body. According to the specifications that have surfaced, the camera offers a back-illuminated CMOS sensor, a hinged 3-inch LCD, and an integrated flash.

The camera will reportedly offer an ISO range of 160 through 12,800, and will be able to record videos in resolutions up to 1080/30p. Storage will be on a microSD card, which isn't surprising given the camera's tiny size, and there will be a "super continuous shooting capability". All of it is reportedly powered by a DRIMe IV New Image Engine.
