Samsung Nexus Prime to land in October packing Ice Cream Sandwich according to rumor

One of the things that have kept some of the most popular smartphones out of the hands of users wanting to buy them historically has been low production rates for the screens the phones rely on. Samsung is finally back on track with one of the nicest screens in the smartphone market, its Super AMOLED 720p resolution display. There are new reports trickling in that claim this will be the screen that lands on the Samsung Nexus Prime smartphone.

The Nexus Prime is said to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and it is thought to be the first smartphone coming to market with the OS onboard. The screens that Samsung is building measure 4.5-inches and have Pentile tech inside, though Samsung is rumored to be working on a similar screen with a RGB matrix. There is no indication as to what version of the screen the Prime will use, presumably the Pentile version.

Other rumors have pointed to the smartphone using a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. If the rumors are true, this will be a very nice smartphone indeed. Earlier reports were pegging the launch of the smartphone for November, but the latest round point to October. I think the phone will be something people look at for the holiday gifting season so October makes sense and gives the phone a full quarter on the market before the end of the year.
