Few people understand how a camera’s megapixel specification work. Most pictures, unless you’re blowing them up for poster prints, look better with lower megapixels. This knowledge can be gained from experience. I rarely go beyond 3 MP for most purposes. People wrongfully equate higher MP to better photos. Very much NOT true.

I’m copping this! Even though it has a 5MP camera there’s no shutter speed so the images should be just as pristine as other smartphones.

The GSII (Epic Touch) was my first and only; I’m now back with my Samsung SCH-a930 (which a colleague calls my “Fisher Price Phone”). My experience with vanilla Android is with my wife’s Droid. I think you’ll be favorably impressed with the Epic Touch/GSII.

I suspect that production of the 4212 (1.5GHz Exynos) is running behind, or ICS is running behind. With all due respect to Steve Jobs, multinational corps don’t give their competitors breaks ’cause their CEO died. They of course might have also been worried about bad PR.

I actually only know TouchWiz, the Vibrant I’m rocking now is my first smartphone and the Epic Touch I get in three weeks will be my second. So TW is what Android looks like to me. It doesn’t bother me itself, my fury is at the slow pace of updates. ICS is coming out soon (the official story is that it would be coming out right about now if Steve Jobs hadn’t died, which sounds bogus to me but who knows) and my lovely Vibrant is still on fraking Froyo. I’d get the Nexus S 4G if it weren’t for the infamous reception problems.

I’ll take it. I had the GSII for a little over one week (Sept 16th – Sept 26th) and loved it and TouchWiz. Took it back ’cause Sprint coverage couldn’t match Verizon’s in my area.

To each his own though – I liked it quite a bit more than the standard Android interface. ICS may best them both.

I use my Vibrant as a computer more than as a phone, so I’m excited for the extra half-inch of screen when I get an Epic Touch next month. I can’t afford and don’t really see any need for a tablet but the more my phone can fit that role while still fitting in my pocket the better.

One has to distinguish between a flop commercially and technically. This was a solid phone technically. This time around it will be a commercial success thanks to the quiet market through spec leaks and the like. That combined with Verizon passing on the Galaxy S II and people being shocked and disappointed that no iPhone 5 was released. That sneak peak add that Samsung and Google dropped hours after iPhone 5 no-show was well timed! This phone is going to kick ass on Verizon.

The SII is nice, no question, I would be quite satisfied with it as well, although I hope (and strongly suspect) the higher-end specs to the Nexus Prime come true.

I jumped to Sprint (from Verizon) the first day the SII came out and loved the phone… for one week. It unfortunately didn’t get reception within a quarter mile of my office. I couldn’t live with that and went back to Verizon. Sprint was fine otherwise…

I have an HTC thunderbolt, with an 8mp camera. the pictures look like shit. the camera is freaking terrible and pales in comparison to the iphone 5mp camera. not even in the same league. I stopped using my phone’s camera a week after i got it. so dont hold your breath for the vigor, or its camera.

“mp isnt everything” is an understatement. mp dont mean diddly squat. people need to get that through their thick skulls. are you going to print a 16″ by 20″ camera phone shot? no you wont. so stop looking at the pixel count.

i think these leaks are bs. All previous rumors had the prime at 1.5 ghz dual core and now samsungs gonna release this phone with a slower procesor than theyre Galaxy 2 has. Google wouldnt allow it. And a 5 MP camera with 1.3 mp front, i know mp isnt everything but seriously how are you gonna take down the iphone or the htc vigor with subpar specs. Im waiting to see both the Nexus prime and the HTC Vigor before deciding which one i get but if these are the real specs ill get the Vigor 1.5 ghz dual core with 8 mp cam with 2mp front cam, RooT it and decide whether i wanna run htc sense or load Ice cream sandwich on it. I am curious if i did that how much space the new buttons for ICS would take up on my screen since it would render the hard buttons useless. maybe the developers out there can tweak ICS to use the hard buttons since alot of the phones out now will most likely be upgraded to ICS a la Galaxy 2.

I would be surprised if it did not make it here, but I have no idea. The 4210 goes to 1.4GHz – I thought perhaps they kicked it up another notch – but then they also just announced the 4212, 32nm, at 1.5GHz, and it seems that the speculation is that this is the CPU that will be in the HD LTE. Also seems like I’ve read that the 4212 production will be up to speed by Nov, which is also a possible timeframe for Verizon to release the Nexus Prime.

Who knows. I don’t. We’ll all know more on the 11th.

It’s not even the SG2 with a curved display. The SG2 has a better front camera and a higher clockspeed processor (on some models). BTW Am I the only one who thinks smartphones are getting too big? I don’t need a tablet in my pocket all the time, the original SG2 was pushing it with a 4.3 screen, now 4.65? Seriously Samsung calm down

I’ve been with Verizon for 15 years and have no confidence that they will do the right thing. They always seem to find a way to disappoint. Samsung GsII is a perfect example. When I have the Nexus in my hand I will believe it.

All those qualities you’ve stated are moot. Memory cards are cheap to come by, and a camera’s megapixel count doesn’t necessarily lead to higher quality photos. If anything, too many megapixels over a small optical lens space leads to more washed out photos.

So I’m torn between the Prime and waiting for the Galaxy Note though it seems as if the Galaxy Note might be headed to AT&T (which sucks). Still think I might ride out my Evo contract through June of 2012 and see what the landscape looks like then. Besides if the Note doesn’t come to VZ I’ll be able to get the Prime for a penny off of Amazon by then!

Samsung already announced the Galaxy S2 HD LTE in Korea on September 26th. It has the 1.5GHz Exynos dual, 8MP back and 2MP front, an 1850mAh battery, and a 1280×720 4.65″ display.

That’s it. That’s the Nexus Prime. No need to speculate any longer, they’ve already played their hand.

Some ppl have micro SD cards with stuff on there that they will love to use with their new phone even if it has tons of internal storage. Some ppl need more storage on their devices than others, but it is better to have more storage than less just incase u ever need it at some point in the future.

Sorry but i see no way that Google will not unleash this monster of a phone to all the major carriers…mostly those carriers who have stood shoulder to shoulder with the Nexus devices since its inception. Tmobile has lots of Nexus one and Nexus S customers and most if not all of them like myself don’t want anything to do with Verizon…i know i won’t. Tmobile following tradition is the perfect carrier for the new ICS Nexus phone..i hope Google remembers that. And given that Tmo will be the only carrier amongst the big four not to carry the iDevice…it makes perfect sense that the new Nexus is available on Magenta from the jump. Google can give Verizon their exclusive on the Droid Prime or what ever it will be called but plzzzzz Google there are millions and millions of Android customers and current Nexus one and Nexus S holders on other three Networks who are waiting for the new ICS Nexus on their networks and in no circumstances want to leave their carriers and part from the reasonable cell rates they have.
