I've been a die hard samsung person for a few years now, digital cams/TV's/ Home surround units (my washer, dryer & fridge are samsung) I just recently upgraded my home surround(from a samsung to a samsung) my tv's have always been samsung. this last xmas my girlfriend gave me a 70" Sharp Quattron,(Even knowing that I'm loyal to a particular brand) Its a great tv, fantastic picture no complaints.(She did very well picking it out) but when I checked the samsungUS site (as I do weekly) I saw that the new LED series was coming out (UN65ES8000F) its 5" smaller but I dont really care. Ive already put the "for sale" sticker on the sharp.

Point of the story Samsung may be far and between with thier updates. but the products that they produce are so damn good you dont really need them...... I now have a Galaxy S II, its 10x better than the 4GS, without ICS. I can say this because my prior fone was a 4GS. when they finally get around to updating ill get a notification and update.. untill then I'll be happy with the great samsung product that I have.

I'm also on my second Samsung phone; first the Epic 4G and now the 4G Touch (I'm stuck with Sprint until July). I'm trying really hard to like the Android OS, but the updates from Samsung are so slow in coming that it borders on comical.
I have an idea: Move all the folks that are working on the 4.0 TouchWiz skin and move them into product development. That way, Samsung might be able to give the iPhone a viable competitor.
In the last month, I've purchased a Mac Air, the new iPad 3 (this morning) to replace my iPad 2, and various other Apple products (magic mouse, bluetooth keyboard, etc...). Apple's just work. They're extremely well made, beautiful to look at, and again, they just work. Unfortunately, as much as I like the ability to add widgets and customize my experience, I'll be headed to the Apple store when the new iPhone is next released.

My GS2 was my first Android device. If Samsung has a habit of promising and then under delivering, it will definitely be my last Samsung.

But to be fair, I don't think any of the other vendors have fared any better with their ICS updates.

It's beginning to look like Rocky Road will be out before we get ICS.

Im using Pure ICS 6.1 from the XDA site. It's 99.99% stable and just a wierd SD card problem when installing some apps. You can google a fix for that easily enough. It has no Touchwiz, just Trebuchet launcher. Who needs the Samsung update?

The problem lays in that if they (Samsung) want people to keep buying their products (in the U.S. especially), year over year, they need to offer them premium service for the $300 device customers buy. With Samsung, consistently, they've been selling Android models like Apple, with yearly upgraded model releases (and unlike Apple inconsistent upgrades to the OS.) I say, users should get the next available Android upgrade ASAP, so that after 2 years they'll be more inclined to buy your next model with the most recent software. If OEMs wait until a year and a half out from launch when the newset OS has been available for a full year by the time they send it for FOTA you kinda say to your customers "Thanks for your cash" and leave it at that. The only OEM in five years I've been in wireless I've seen keep customers contract over contract is HTC (Blackberry was the champ before last year). HTC not only leaves customers feeling like they bought quality hardware, they've managed to squeeze at least 1 major upgrade in ever device. Though, it hasn't always worked well (The HTC Magic/MyTouch3G did NOT handle 2.2 from 1.6) the heart is there and customers see that. It's simple marketing. I don't think Samsung understands U.S. marketing and psychology AT ALL.
