With CES 2016 officially kicking off today, Samsung hasn't wasted any time to release official images of one of its new products: the "Family Hub" smart refrigerator. Details are still slim at this point — although we'll surely hear more once we hit the show floor — but we do know the fridge comes sporting a touchscreen display larger than most tablets, along with several cameras on the inside. What could a huge screen and cameras do to improve a refrigerator? Well, for starters, users don't need to open the door to see what's inside.

When it comes to displays on refrigerators, Samsung has pulled out all the stops. The screen measures 21.5 inches, features 1080p, and is expected to display more than just the fridge's contents, such as weather and calendar details. The bottom even has buttons that make it seem like a super-sized Android phone.

As a "smart appliance," Samsung's new fridge will connect to an accompanying smartphone app, so users can see what's inside remotely thanks to those cameras. This means no more wondering what's already at home when at the grocery store, but the fridge is also said to send notifications when certain items are running low.

The smartphone app will let users write notes to display on the fridge's screen, and when the appliance debuts in South Korea, they can even shop and order groceries from the display. No information on price or release date have been revealed yet, so stay tuned for more hand-on details.
