Joke or not, it's unfortunately true for now. Though, i've recently seen a couple people with Windows PHone devices, so their base is growing (albeit slowly).

I personally will definitely be refreshing my Froyo device with an ICS phone (most likely Prime) when they come out this time around.

That being said, have you used a Windows Phone device? Dayamn, they're slick. Arguably as snappy (or snappier) than iOS, definitely snappier than Android, even with "inferior" hardware. Their apps pop open quick, their UI and feature integration is uniform across the board (i'm looking at you, Android), and for enterprise, MS is using their considerable knowledge of that market to make them the best choice hands-down for an MS-based platform.

Most importantly, though, as an information and communication device, Windows Phone takes the crown. It's almost natural (with Mango now, of course) to fly around their devices and grab every little bit of info you're looking for, be it searching the 'net, your contacts' info, e-mail, etc... I'm seriously impressed with what they've done.

I give MS a hell of a lot of credit for having the most innovative mobile OS right now. It's just too damned young. My next phone refresh may very well be a Windows Phone, assuming they can keep it growing like it is and Windows 8 ups their developer momentum... BUT, that'll be at least 1-2 years away and a hell of a lot can change.

That, and they need to get some decent devices, for frak's sake.

Whenever someone settles with Microsoft, Google come out and say how wrong it is - yet they don't seem to actually be doing anything about it.

Does this mean they actually can't do anything about it, or simply they are biding their time? Better hope these Motorola patents were actually worth the money.

Either way these patent wars are a complete joke. The only people that ever lose out are us, the consumers. The $15 per handset Samsung are paying to MS will just get passed on to us, we'll pay it, and the circle will continue...
