Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 detailed: GS5 style

There's another Samsung Galaxy Tab out there in the wild, this one coming with a physical design not unlike the Galaxy S5. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has been leaked with a backside pattern the same as the Galaxy S5, bringing on specifications very, very similar to those of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014.

As you'll see in our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Review, this form factor is amongst Samsung's finest. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S is said to work with a 10.1-inch display with 2560 x 1600 pixels across it – the same as the Note 10.1 2014.

One big difference is the processor – while the Note 10.1 2014 worked with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, the Galaxy Tab S works with an octa-core Exynos 5420. This processor is clocked at 1.9GHz for each of its Cortex-A15 cores and clocked in at 1.3GHz for each of its Cortex-A7 cores – four of each, that is.

This device also has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a front-facing camera sitting at 2.1-megapixels, and an IR-blaster up top. The IR-blaster is put in place to allow the tablet to control your television set – or whatever other electronics you have that work with infrared control abilities.

With the Samsung Galaxy Tab S you'll find software extremely similar to that of the most recent Galaxy Tab and Note Pro models. This means Samsung's Magazine UX over Android 4.4 KitKat – without the S Pen software, of course.

While we're not certain of the company's release schedule for this device, chances are Samsung will push this Tab's reveal to its next Unpacked event.

This means IFA 2014, and a reveal alongside the Galaxy Note 4. September 5th through the 10th in Germany – we'll be there!
