Actually this way more awesome than anything else out. The size is perfect for portability it’s just plain loaded with more features and high end specs than either iPad or any other Android Tablet!

Samsung Galaxy Tab has these following things that Apple’s iFad doesn’t have.
#1 – Both Front and Rear facing cameras!
#2 – Removible and replaceble battery w/ a spare!
#3 – BOTH Wifi and 3G Wireless Reception (so compare Samsung’s to Apple’s same product price here.)!
#4 – Wifi is Dual Band w/combo 2.4 & 5.0ghz (Apple? slow 2.4 only)!
#5 – Galaxy has TWICE the RAM that’s like in 2 times (double) what Apple iFad has!
#6 – Galaxy Tab has Broadcom’s newest Combo radio that supports Video Chat over 3G (iFad doesn’t even have a front facing camera & if it did it wouldn’t have the radio to power Facetime)!
#7 – Galaxy Tab has Wifi Direct (device to device w/o need for router) that includes hardware DLNA Media and file server)!
#8 – Galaxy Tab has it’s own Media Hub where you can purchase (or free) latest TV programs, Movies, etc for download or rental and stream in 1080p to your HDTV, PC, Xbox360, PS3, Cable Box, Google TV Directly or they offer a DLNA dock that’s streams un-upscaled content as 1080p to these devices using HDMI cable.
#9 – Galaxy Tab has SGX540 GPU that has THREE TIMES (3x) the processing power of iFad’s SGX535 GPU!
#10 – Galaxy Tab has Full ARM NEON MEDIA ENGINE SUPPORT and iFad has NONE!
#11 – Galaxy Tab has full FM Transceiver to send and and receive music to/from Radio stations and to your car and home stereo! …iFad has the chip but not the software capability!
#12 – Galaxy Tab has BlueTooth 3.0 that is TEN TIMES (10x) more Powerful than the iFad’s BlueTooth 2.1!
#13 – Galaxy Tab’s display is 16:9 the standard for videos and the evver increasing favorite for future web content!
#14 – Galaxy Tab runs and displays all Web Content your PC or Netbook can. iFad can’t run what’s on over 80+% of the web. Including actually be able to manage and view full YouTube, Facebook, Bank Accounts, Event Tickets and choose seats, etc!
#15 – Top it off with real GAMING capabilites that include that stronger Hummingbird CPU and SGX540 GPU along with built in Full 6Axis Gyro and Accelerometer. While iFad a cheap GPU chip, cheap Wifi, Cheap controls, no dual band 3G even. Along with NO Cameras! NO SD Upgradable Memory! ….when Samsung Galaxy has all this and MORE!!!

I agree with you, a non-subscription WiFi option is essential for many people. I have WiFi (that either I or my employer pay for) during 96% of my usual days, and usually no 3G for half of the remaining 4% (which I spend in the subway). Yet another subscription seems like a waste.

BTW, where do you get that free airport WiFi?

The tab is awesome indeed, I was pleasantly surprised to see the list of specs, and how comprehensive the feature set it. Especially being the first ‘viable’ android tablet (i know there are hundreds of others out there), I was even more excited. But, alas, I am greatly disappointed in the way Sammy is bringing the device to market. Quite frankly, I was hoping they wouldn’t corner themselves by offering it through carriers, and by doing so, continue the revolution the the ipad begun by giving consumers a choice between a contract and none. I don’t know who wants to pay another data service fee, (and this one I presume will be more than the commonplace $30/mo smartphone plans, perhaps $49/mo). So now on top of my $99 unlimited t/t/w plan, I now have to pay another $50/mo to get to the same web from a different device (and that’s provided they don’t make you pay for voice too), not to mention if you have a family of three like myself. (unlimited family at Sprint is $189 for lines 1-2 plus another $90 for the third line) So now my cell phone bill will cost as much as a BMW or Benz………….Interesting. Can I just have a wifi device that I can use on my home newtork, and the vast majority of free airport wifi and coffee shop networks. It’s not like I’m gonna carry around a giant 7-inch slate with me everywhere I go, that’s what my smartphone is for, so why the Ball and Chain Samsung????????
