Samsung Galaxy S6 Active specs leak

One of the things that some Samsung Galaxy smartphone users want on their device is a waterproof body and ruggedized designed. When the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were unveiled, users who preferred the Active version of the previous generation S5 might have lamented the fact that there wasn't a rugged version of the S6.

That appears to be changing soon with some leaked specifications turning up that claim to be for the Galaxy S6 Active. An unnamed source who claims to know what Samsung is up to has offered up some specifications for the S6 Active and says the device will carry the SM-G890A serial number.

According to this source, the S6 Active will use the same 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED+ smartphone that the normal S6 uses. Hardware inside the Active version is tipped to include an Exynos 7420 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 16MP rear camera, and a 5MP front camera.

The S6 Active will be larger physically to account for the ruggedized body with measurements of 73.6 x 146.9 x 8.8mm. That larger body also helps to cover the larger 3500mAh internal battery. The model number of the S6 Active hints that AT&T will be the first carrier to get the device. it's unclear when the S6 Active might be available, pre-orders for the S6 and S6 Edge kick off April 1.
