How do you know Samsung is number one? they do not report their sales of smartphones. Could it be because they are getting their arse handed to them on a platter? The issue I have “mate” is with Samsung’s lack of openness.

Reviewer please don’t be a Weiner, this is currently not a competition. If Apple had not bungled so badly we would have the iPhone 5 already. But seeing as we don’t and the iPhone 4.1 (s) is the only thing facing the GS 3 it’s looking like its over. Your move Apple actually release a phone this year not a worthless incremental update.

I like Apple products I own more than one device. However, Apple better get their butts in gear & start fighting for turf with respect to the iPhone. Whereas Samsung appears to have thrown their ‘gloves off’, Apple still appears slow to react and seems to pace how much technology they release with each revision.

I have an old 3GS phone & I’m sorely in need of an upgrade but was planning to hold off for the new i5 model. After seeing video and the the specs for the new Galaxy III, I just might not wait unless they introduce something soon (this Summer) and it will need to be very impressive (not holding back). The new Samsung device is really a powerhouse of a phone – a big leap in tech/features.

Dual-core to a power-sipping Exynos quad-core processor is not an incremental update, nor is a higher screen size and resolution an incremental update either. More size and pixels make browsing, reading and viewer a much better experience than smaller screens (I know this for a fact from using my Galaxy Note for the past few months).
The new software features on top of ICS indicate that Samsung is aggressively looking at providing a very different experience compared to other Android phones. Samsung announced a lot of new services today which aim to differentiate it further among other Android manufacturers and perhaps put it at par with Apple’s ecosystem. And unlike iOS services, Samsung is not geared towards mostly US customers only. I expect Samsung to grab even more sales this year and increase its lead further over Apple when it comes to smartphone sales. Personally I like the phone though I will skip this in hopes that Samsung will update the Galaxy Note with a quad-core Exynos and the new features in a few months.

Where’s my Apple pom pom’s??? While I truly like BOTH platforms, I find stories like this completely stupid and self indulgent. The S3′s screen size is better … get over it. My preference is about 4.2 but the iphone 4s is way too small.+ Apple NEED’s widgets!!! iOS is dated. Apple is losing this battle. With that being said I am REALLY looking forward to what iOS 6 brings and the iphone 5. Samsung fired the first shot and it’s impressive. Now what can Apple do to knock my socks off.

I see no such implication in “No, anyone who follows the stock market knows and you seem to be in denial.” You made the blanket assumption that by anyone who follows the stock market only gauges success by STOCK PRICE. What I took from it is that the rest of the world is not Bob Emery and actually listens to the important fundamentals during earnings reports such operating margin, net profits, and projected future earnings. Just because you make blanket assumptions about simple statements by others doesn’t mean we are following you down that slippery slope. And yes your implication about being Apple being less successful because of the stock price decline would be true – if we all were as savvy of an investment guru as yourself, who considers that RIM was “well run.”

the phone looks beautiful in the pictures. will have to hold it in the hands for the final conclusion. it is a great decision to not have the virtual buttons. It frees up so much more space. apple could be in trouble

That’s the density of pixels spread across the display, with some people saying the denser the better while other say there’s really a limit.—
According to Apple there is. 300 ppi is called retina display in which people cannot distinguish individual pixels. After that point it doesn’t matter how small the pixels get. People still won’t see any difference. So 305 = good enough. Average people can’t tell if it’s 326 or 305.

You’re prediction is a bit off and have no research to back up your silly claim. Be a sheep and then calculate like one. It was about who’s winning the war of smartphones and if you actually read into things about operating margins you would know that neither Xerox nor RIM had the strength in net profits like Apple. This isn’t about predicting tech or the direction of mobile device adoption. We leave that to the fickle tech buying public. Will Apple fall one day? Of course. Can we predict it by the stock market? No. My beef was with your attempt to obscure the argument with an overgeneralization about Xerox and RIM being “well run” as you said.
