HTC was actually the first company to create the first Nexus device in partnership with Google. It was originally known as the Nexus One. Later Nexus devices were made by Samsung, however HTC was there first.
The physical button is also on the US version, but I’m sure you’ve noticed that by now.

Well, I think the fact that HTC made the first 4G phone (HTC EVO 4G) as well as the first glasses-free 3D phone (HTC EVO 3D), makes them a pretty notable and iconic company. Being the first in those categories automatically makes them pretty groundbreaking since they did set the standards and foundation for all modern 4G phones.
Oh and don’t forgt that the very first Android phone was also made by HTC (HTC Dream). So one could argue that HTC set the foundation for every single Android phone today. I’d say that’s pretty impressive and groundbreaking on HTC’s part. Sure Samsung makes great phones, but overall, it’s always been HTC leading the innovation.

sadly i returned an HTC ONE X, to get the SSGSIII, After 24 hours with the SSGSIII, I can’t wait until tomorrow morning to return it and get my HTC ONE X Back!!!! BTW, How old are you people swapping insults back and forth??? Grow up. If your children, { and i hope that’s why } then the growing up will come, just be careful how you use up your youth. If you’re adults, then shame on you, and Grow Up. The SSGSIII is nice, But not worth all the Hype, IMO.

i actually carry two extended batteries. one in my phone, and one in my wallet. it give me more than a days worth of constant 4g usage or almost 4 days of battery if im careful.

These are all matter of personal opinion, however giving the opportunity

Batteries wear out over time and need to be replaced (I have had this happen in several devices). I must say that replacing the one in my HTC Hero was much easier than the Palm T|X; the latter required a soldering iron!

Keep in mind that the US versions of the GSII looked quite different from the international version. I wouldn’t doubt that the US carriers will want to differentiate themselves by having a GSIII that doesn’t look like the other carrier’s versions. I almost switched to T-Mobile just because I thought that their version of the GSII looked so much cooler than the others.

EnoeI69, you hit it right on the head. I think a lot of people like the One X hardware better and like Sense better than TouchWiz. But only 16GB for a device that takes 1080p video and shoots 8MP stills and with a trend to save music at higher bit rates than MP3 is ridiculous. But with the ability to have potentially 128GB of storage and the battery being replaceable are heavy points in favor of the GSIII. But Samsung will screw it up by having 4 different versions of the GSIII for the four major US carriers and that will all come out at different times and will all have key differences that confuse consumers….all the way into the waiting arms of Apple. When will these companies understand why Apple wins the way that they do? HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG, etc. all keep on making the same mistakes over and over. Sad.

I feel sorry for you. You must have gotten tricked by the pictures of the one x. I know because I was tricked.

I thought it looked fine until I saw it in real life and it is one of the most horrifically ugly looking phone I have seen in my life. If you think the S3 is outdated, the one x design must be from ancient times.

I now know what someone meant when they said it looks like a cheap Chinese knock off of the Lumia.

Since when did geeks carry around extra batteries? I work on Wall Street and it’s the people with serious jobs who carry around extra batteries because they need to. The next time your crappy htc phone is dying half way into the day, don’t forget what you wrote here.

This is because most people had their expectations blown sky high from the S3 rumor mill, so some disappointment was reasonable, just like the iPhone 4S situation.

The opposite is the case for htc. htc had been churning out fugly phones for such a long time, that even a MINOR improvement in looks was like a breath of relief for the htc fanboys.

It’s all about relative expectation that affects people’s reactions. But if you objectively put these two devices side by side, the S3 is definitely sexier while the one x is bland, bloated, and old fashioned looking.

There’s a world outside of the US. A lot of people have already handled this phone.

No one’s hating on the one x. You can legitimately dislike something without hating on it, and most people don’t like htc phones. Even htc admitted they made fugly looking phones. The only praise you hear about this phone is from the crazed htc fanboys who can’t realize that htc can’t stop producing fugly phones, and that their time is up.

I am really torn between these two devices…i want the One X so bad as rumor has it coming to Tmo with stock ICS. But two very crucial specs are missing and they reside on the GS3…micro SD slot and a bigger replaceable battery. Common HTC why did u have to make it easier for Samsung…cuz the absence of these two specs will sway a lot of ppl to the GS3 myself included. Assuming it was the One X that came with the 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage with a micro SD slot of 64GB and a replaceable battery of 2100mAh…hands down it will be a monster seller with HTC unable to keep up with the demand. Please HTC/Tmobile bring this baby(One X) to Magenta with an SD card slot in tow at least and please make this known ( even thru leaks) before the GS3 drops. Oh and don’t for the virgin ICS.

The pictures do not do the S3 justice. In real life it look absolutely gorgeous.

Android is all about choices… If you like sexy, well designed phones, great. If you don’t… well, there’s no accounting for taste and it’s your money, you can tell the girl at the bar all about the extra batteries you carry around, I’m sure she’ll be impressed.
The reason the One X battery isn’t removable is because it doesn’t need to be. If you’re worried because you can’t swap your battery then you’re probably (a geek) already carrying around extra batteries for your old phone. If the integrated battery is a problem for you then just get an external battery. What’s the difference? You’re already used to carrying around stuff you shouldn’t have to. Just because your old phone required the battery shuffle, why assume that next gen hardware would need the same treatment?
One X users are already reporting much improved battery life, more than enough to get through the day and then some. And apparently the One X charges up almost twice as fast as older phones.
And… who cares about an SD card if you’re shelling out for a LTE phone?
LTE makes cloud storage so fast you won’t even notice the difference. Phones are all about connectivity, they are not intended to provide storage like a computer, if you need to access important data, why trap it on your phone so you’re screwed if you lose it, that’s why everyone is so excited about the cloud, because it changes how we do things… for the better. HTC’s not stupid, they just understand how the cloud changes the game. And if you absolutely need to have something on your phone, then you have plenty of local storage to play with.
Design, User Experience, and Feel will always win out over an overblown spec wrapped in a recycled exterior. Don’t take my word for it. Go pick up a One X then try to find a GS3 to compare it to… even if you could (it’s still 3 months out), you’d find the One X is sexy as all hell, while the appearance of the GS3 has already been widely criticized as ugly and ‘designed by lawyers’ (not my words). I’m sure the GS3 is a great device, it has to be just to be in the conversation with the One X, but to say it wins because it has more hardware packed into it, is to ignore the fact that any phone is only as good as it’s user experience, and the One X nails the experience. Just look around, the only people hating on the One, clearly haven’t touched one yet (no pun) it comes out Sunday. In any case you’ll be hard pressed to find a single comment from an existing One X user lamenting their decision.

Wy is it that important to change the freakin battery in a smartphone. It makes the OneX look so much better without those crappy battery caps like the DHD. There are pleny gadgets to charge the battery everywhere you want. From car chargers to solar chargers.

On the other hand, Samsung has the creativity to be able to develop the tech for the world’s best chips, memory, displays, and telecommunications components.

So if you say there’s nothing iconic about Samsung, then htc wouldn’t even form the tiniest blip on the radar in the history of technological innovation or product development.
