For all the folks grumbling about the plasticky case, does it really matter? 99% of buyers will likely slip the thing into some kind of protective case anyway, the smart ones use such a case that covers the front screen. Never could see any point in all those iPhone cases that only cover the back but leave that lovely big glass touch-screen pad exposed to all the biteys that abound, waiting to kill the display. Makes me wonder if someone could perhaps pen a little concerto played by the sound of shattering touch screens…

The headphone jack on the bottom is simply perfect for heavy music listeners like me, my headphone cord never gets in the way unlike the galaxy s2 i found myself moving the cord everytime i pulled the phone from my pocket.

So presumably you’ll be queuing outside an Apple store wearing a polo neck and ready to hand over £500 or so for Apple’s latest offering will you? Have fun with that, no really, knock yourself out.

Personally I couldn’t give a flying whatsit either way – Apple zealots and Droid zealots are just as bad as each other. Pavlov rings his bells and you run slobbering to the store to hand over your money and convince yourself that you’re cooler and your life has somehow improved because you have a shiny new phone. Whatever.

First of all, anybody here who’s had a Galaxy Nexus, Note, or even a Galaxy S2 shouldn’t have been looking to get a new phone anyway, not unless the GS3 was going to have holographic displays, textured buttons, and DSLR-quality camera lens.

Secondly, all the complaints about the pentile screen seem like absolute nit-picking since the Note’s pentile display was universally praised, and that device had an even bigger screen that would’ve exposed whatever flaws pentile displays have.

Jelly bean will be out in November or December and the S3 will get it between March and May 2013. The S2 is getting ICS between March and May depending on region and carrier. I believe Europe and Korea mostly got it already and Canada’s starting to get it now.

If the HTC One X hadn’t been introduced right before the SGIII, it might not look like such a cheap plastic toy. Come on Samsung, take some pride in the craftsmanship of your products. The Galaxy S 3 screams, “I’ve got a lifespan measured in months so therefore I’m not worth anything better than plastic”. The Nintendo 3DS has a nicer finish than this ugly embarrassment.

Oh, but why bother? There’ll be another two dozen Android phones released between now and then, at least, with longer names, more computing power (oooh… faster Angry Birds!), fancier screens (with different resolutions – I hear a collective ‘yay’ from developers), a battery powerful enough to run Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit AND power the flux capacitor and a DAC that renders 5.1 surround sound — which is really handy now that most people use TXT messages to communicate.

Did I mention that most of the new phones will be running 2.x anyway, because Android handset manufacturers and providers really don’t care to supply updates? Updates, shmupdates. Who needs ‘em? Viruses? Trojans? Click fraud? Meh. ”NGP.” Not Google’s Problem. Oh… wait… that click fraud thing sort of *is* Google’s problem. Hmmm…

How. Im. Pres. Sive.

Do us all a favor: don’t get this phone. Do something frivolous with the money… like… pay for your own health care or college education. If you REALLY want to throw money away, buy stock in GM. Whatever you do, don’t burn it: that would be harmful to the environment.

I was trying to say that I am disappointed with the Galaxy S3 device not having RGB display.
I like the fact that it has a micro SD slot and a removable battery that is bigger than HTC One X. If the display had been RGB, these features would have been enough to tip the scales in favor of the Galaxy S3 for me.
From what I have seen of processors so far, the S4 processor can hold its own against quad core processors based on ARM 9 design. So having a quad core processor based on ARM 9 design means that the Galaxy S3 does not have significantly better performance than the HTC One X.

Ya, surprises like copying Android at this point. Lets look at ios5. Notification pull down (Android has had it from the beginning), tabbed browsing (Android wins again, and what took so long Apple?), cloud sync (Google has been syncing all kinds of stuff from the beginning of Android as well, again Apple, what took so long!)

Look, I like some Apple products, I own a Macbook Pro and love it. I don’t drink the kool-aid though. iOS is behind Android with inovation and currently busy playing catch up!!!

I’ve never been fond of skins, I’m usually an AOSP guy. However, touchwiz on this device doesn’t look bad at all. I wouldn’t mind using it one bit! Someone did a youtube video about it and it does look very usable, unlike Sense!

iPhone 4 -> iPhone 4s = solve connectivity issue, purchase and rebrand voice recognition software as their own, bump up the processor.

The only con I found here is the cheap plastic look back cover, everything else seem great for now…at least they’ve got tons of new features that not seen on any other phones. The front looks appealing and somewhat look like Nexus S but it’s all Sammy’s coat so wouldn’t make much difference

At least samsung listen to us this time. When the galaxy nexus came out, we complained about the phone having no micro-sd slot(corrected), headphone jack being at the bottom of the phone(corrected),awful camera(corrected). HTC and other manufactures heard our complaints and still ignored us with no micro sd slot, non-removable battery. I with ya all the way sammie.
