This test is just meaningless and they defend heavily on how the phones land when they fall.

Yeah that is a bad test video. What happened to the iPhone after test 2. It’s a brand new iPhone for test 3, looked to be the same GSIII though. My guess is if they didn’t replace the iPhone for test 3 the thing would of been in small pieces on the pavement. Atleast the GSIII looks as if it could of been used after the iPhone I would say not so much. I am not a fan of either phone or OS but a true comparision of phones was not shown in this video.

The headline for the article should be changed to “iPhone handles drops worse than the GSIII.”

Also who drops their phone that much. I can’t recall a time I have dropped my phone. Here here for plastic phones, they absorb shock much more than a hard metal does. That is why it survives, it will pop open like in test 2 and survive.

Why are these being tested? They aren’t meant to take that kinda punisment. Screens are only scratch resistant, not asphalt/nuclear blast proofed.

With more surface area of glass, the galaxy s 3 should break quicker. Think about it, what will break easier? Dropping a large glass window or a little glass screen. I think as the screen gets larger the risk of cracking the screen is greater.

Considering the iPhone 4 is pretty much all glass, its common sense to assume it would certainly be the first to become utterly destroyed. I hate how companies are making phones these days. Make em an ounce heavier, and make em have the build quality of the OG Droid. That thing was a freaking beast. I dropped it off the 3rd story balcony at a hotel and the thing got a hair-sized dent.

Thicker glass and it has a massive metal frame that stuck out further away from the screen to help protecting it from the glass hitting the ground first. But it is depending on where the device is landed. If it landed face first and has a stone in the middle of the screen then anything will break. :)

So what if the Galaxy S3 crack faster when dropping on hard surface but what would be the dance that you’d let your phone drop on concrete? Normally people use protection case and having insured. So what if it does break easier than the iPhone? Does it make it less better than the iphone in term of usability? The answer is no. So do I care if it does break easily? I don’t really break any phone from dropping before. And I do not intending on doing that even if the phone is tough as a motherf**king Italian Mafia.

Did ainyone read this article completly and then watch the video? The article makes it seem as the iPhone survived all three test. When in fact it was 3 different iPhones that were used. So essentially the iPhone survived one test. In order for it to survive the three tests they would need to use the same iPhone, not different ones. FYI I have an iPhone 4 and hopefully will be getting a Samsung Galaxy SIII soon.
