It has almost the same hardware, the Nexus S has a curved display (retarded) and lacks the SD card slot. Also a phone running vanilla ICS will have different requirements than one running TouchWiz and the rest of Samsung’s bloatware.

Although XDA devs/chefs are great they are often limited without the original packages as they are meant for the specific device. ICS builds are far from ready to be used by the average user.

according to the latest sale numbers posted, SGS and SGS2 sales combined to date are around 30M worldwide. Thats about 1.3 M phones sold per month. iPhone 4 alone sold 20 Million in a quarter which is about 5M units of a single phone per month. It took the Galaxy S2 two months to sell 3M units worldwide while the iPhone 4S sold 4 Million in a weekend.

The reason why Samsung barely passed Apple’s iPhone sales during the last quarter was not only thanks to their highend smartphone line but also thanks to a shitload of low-end smartphones that are also counted in these sale numbers. Apple doesnt sell low-end smartphones.

Don’t buy a phone with a skin on it and your golden. The average person is looking for a Nexus ( Samsung )phone when they buy Andriod because they are not interested in rooting and they just want their device to work straight out of the box. HTC, Motorola and the other Samsung phones are better suited to those who like to tinker, who are patient with or don’t care about slow updates or are willing to root inorder to keep up to date. This is very common knowlage but i understand that everyone dosen’t know this. It’s really simple though,if your life is so busy that you must spend hundreds of dollars on something you know absolutely nothing about the least you should be able to do is ask friends,coworkers and family about the product if you’re to lazy or busy to look it up yourself. I find it difficult to feel sorry for people who blindly purchase a product only to find the time to go online later to read tech sites, posts from users and post their own rants but yet they could not find the time to learn about the product before they purchased it. People like that don’t “have a life to live” they need to get a life and use their brains.

First off I know Android isn’t a manufacture. If I can recall Motorola had 2 versions the regular Android OS and its Moto blur. The OG droid had the Former (2.0). And I did root my phone, ran different roms, overclocked it and even upgrade to all the newer OS systems before they offically came out. Im beyond the basics buddy. I could care less that apps are waiting for me in the cloud because like i said ive bought a couple apps from the Market, only to realize that developer wont be providing me with anymore updates (when the app needed to have bugs ironed out). Not every app was like that, most weren’t, but still that was a huge turn off for me.
And the iPhone is the best choice for me. Honestly I think rooting a phone and customizing it is fun but since I have the 4s i really don’t miss it. Plus ill just jailbreak when its available for the iOS 5.0.1 untethered.

Dumb move buying a phone and not knowing anything about it or the OS. First of all “Andriod” does not produce any phones it’s an operating system like IOS for Apple. These things called companys make the phones and there are more than a few of them producing phones with a Andriod OS. They like to customize Andriod in an effort to both attract new customers and compete with each other. It’s not rocket science, any ten year old should be able to understand this.
Why did you buy a phone with customizations on it? why didn’t you root the phone? Why don’t you realize that your apps are still in the market waiting for you to download them? Wouldn’t you have been better off with the Nexus brand if all this basic stuff seems to complicated for you?
The iphone sounds like it would be a good choice for you. Apple makes really good products. They are boring as hell for those with even an average intellect but they are set up so even the most simple minded people can use them. Thats the real beauty of Apple.

If android can’t keep most of its phones with the latest software then need to ONLY produce the nexus line. I found out after only having my moto droid for a year that it would be left in the dust. Same thing happened with a couple apps I paid for in the android market. This basically why I left android. I know my iPhone 4s won’t be obsolete in the next couple years and will get all updates. That’s the beauty of apple.

You need to educate yourself with regards to custom overlays known as skins. You will have the same problems with the ‘sense’ skin on HTC’s devices as you do with ‘touchwiz’ on the GS. If you want timely updates it’s well known that you need to buy a Nexus phone because they have only pure Andriod with no customizations on them and they always get the updates first.

It’s not about being lazy at all. Theres just no room for ICS on the GS, touchwiz and whatever other customizations will have to go. The only reason my Nexus S made by Samsung will get ICS is because i don’t have that stuff taking up all kinds of space, otherwise these two phones are quite similar.

Not true. Nexus phones are vanilla Andriod with no skin or customization on them to slow or prevent the updating process. Buy a Nexus device and not only are you assured of an update you get the updates first. People who buy Andriod phones with skins like touchwiz on them chose that functionality over timely updates or as in this case,an update at all. All is not lost to those with this phone, they can still root and get the update. Personally i don’t like to root and i want fast updates so it’s a Nexus for me but those who do root their phones can chose whatever phone they want. Choice, thats the beauty of Andriod and thats why i always buy it.

Bad move Samsung. Your excuse runs hollow when Apple can get iOS 5 on an over 2 year old 3GS. The Galaxy S blows the 3GS away in terms of hardware and people were signing up for 2-year contracts earlier THIS YEAR on new Galaxy S’s.

Just as many people keep their iPhones as iPod Touches. They make great multimedia controllers, alarm clocks, an additional ‘reminder-station’. Sure you can easily sell one, but there are also compelling reasons to have a few of them around the house ;)
