Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 shows up in benchmark testing

Ready for another monster phone? Samsung thinks you are, and may have just tested their newest out. On GFX Bench, the 5.9-inch (yeah, exactly) Galaxy Mega 2 is believed to have made an appearance. In addition to a roll-your-eyes screen size, the rest of the specs are equally groan-inducing.

For your 5.9-inch efforts, you'd only be getting a 1280 x 720 resolution. A quad-core Snapdragon checks in at 1.2GHz, and packs an Adreno 306 GPU. A standard 2GB RAM fronts 8GB Memory, which is hopefully expandable. A 12MP camera is also included behind a front-facing 5MP shooter, but no HDR can be had.

The device, widely believed to be Samsung's follow-up to the Galaxy Mega, is running Android 4.4.3. Samsung hasn't mentioned when a Mega 2 could (or would) show up, but this benchmark finding points to a late Summer entry.

Like the first Mega, we're already unimpressed. A massive, pixelated screen seems to carry the day, but Samsung will hopefully do better on the price. If they can capture the budget-minded crowd who want a tablet-for-a-phone, this might actually move some units.
