Samsung has finally caught up to the competition in the realm of desktop hard drives. Hitachi and Seagate have already shown off their 1TB drives, now the Samsung F1 joins the pack.

One thing to note is that they have actually one-upped the competition by cramming all of that space onto only 3 platters. This makes for the highest density recording on a 3.5-inch disk. The drive spins at 7200RPM and features a 32MB Cache.
The price is a reasonable $399, so if you’re in the market for some extra storage, this might be the way to go.
