Are you one that needs a good deal of hard drive space on your on your laptop, but at the same time don’t want to sacrifice speed? Samsung has just announced a new 200GB 7200RPM 2.5-inch drive that might suit your needs.

This makes it the largest 7200RPM 2.5-inch drive by 40GB. The SpinPoint MP1 achieves this using perpendicular recording on two 100GB platters. You’ll also get the benefit of a 16MB cache, SATA 3.0Gbps and a rotary vibration controller.
Expect to see these in laptops and servers sometime later this year. The drives are set to begin production in May, no word on pricing yet.
