The Samsung today announced their latest “world’s first” item of the year for mobile technology, a truly double-sided LCD for mobile devices. This new technology allows for a double-sided LCD that can show two entirely different images or visual data simultaneously on the front and back of the same screen. Previously, only a reverse image of the same visual data could be achieved on the back side.

By using Samsung’s proprietary ASG technology to accommodate the double amount of TFT gates, this new LCD is able to maintain a small integrated circuit driver size. And, it will only require one backlight whereas others require two, making it possible to remain slimmer and more cost-effective.
