When ICS was available for the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Voice Command/Voice Talk was downloaded along with it. When Jelly Bean version 4.1.2 was made available for AT&T customers April 10, 2013, Voice Command/Voice Talk (Hi Galaxy) was removed. While there are several similar programs available on Google's Play Store such as Assistant, Skyvi, Robin, Dragon, etc., in my opinion, none are as good, even though Dragon is supposed to be the replacement for Vlingo, maker of Voice Command/Voice Talk.

A word of caution about one application called Sara - Siri's Funny Friend. Besides not being a good application, it downloads more than just a voice application and uses your GPS location to advertise various adult services available.

I was under the mistaken impression that the reason the hacking community like Android so much is because they can much around with the code and do things like this with S-Voice without worrying about it being blocked or locked down. My mistake.

Its not so much that android is open as much as its likely that Samsung is paying vlingo a certain amount of money per handset sold for the use of their service.

If Samsung had wanted to buy a retroactive license, that'd be quite the chunk of money to shell out.

So, does this mean that older Galaxy devices can run this feature fine and Samesung is deliberately forcing users to upgrade their whole handset to get the functionality - but I thought Samesung was the people's champion? And, so much for Android being open source.
