Can somebody shade some lite for the reason to this sudden huge resolution increase?
the cost of it?And why laptops displays lag so far behind?will we see this resolution on ordinary laptops(I certainly hope so)

Samsung is going play hardball when it comes to future component supply deals.

What they will do is increase its own market share to distribute more supplies and suppliment its supply to Apple to its own division.

That will force other makers to raise their prices, ultimately making them go out of business since Apple wont be purchasing higher component priced products from other vendors.

Either way, Samsung has APple by the balls, like it or not.

“Retina” display isnt made by Apple. It’s a LG technology, an arch rival of Samsung.

In fact, Apple doesnt make ANY, I repeat, ANY of its products.

It doesnt have a SINGLE factory under its belt. None.

They are at the mercy of others, something which is strategically vulnerable to them.

Because samsung wont put “hurt feelings” before “mass sales”. Ipad sell like hotcakes and if samsung were to supply the display for apple it only means tons of money for samsung. I will give you the fact that it does sojnd conflicting, being that apple is very close to suing. But its a business and business will co tinue to be business. Dont be that suprised if samsung alotted apple its components. Apple sells like crazy everyone, including samsung; knows this.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this was the case as Apple are always jumping ahead with these features but the aspect ratio of 2560 x 1600 is 16:10, an aspect ratio (along with 16:9) that Apple have said aren’t as good for the tablet form factor as 4:3 is. I wonder if Apple will take this and put the resolution down to 2048 x 1536 to keep in with the 4:3 aspect ratio. It won’t quite be ‘retina’ but it will still be 264ppi, which is far ahead of any competitors.

ROLF – Why would you add ipad to the end of this announcement?

Samsung and Apple are at polar opposites right now, and Sumsung is in direct competition with them in almost every field.

Why would they offer this to apple after apple sues them?

GalaxyTAB s2 I could believe.
