New form-factors are always good to see, and this one should raise some interest with the UMPC crowd. The Seamless Wi-Fi S-XGen UMPC has a unique form factor that, if anything, is reminiscent of the thumb-board found on the ill-fated Sierra Wireless Voq Smartphone. Due to be revealed at the 2007 CES Electronics Show, it boasts integrated Bluetooth, WiFi and cellular connectivity; other than that it’s something of a mystery.

Actually the keyboard is billed as “almost full-sized” – so I wonder how big the screen is? Is this positioned as a more mobile laptop replacement? I wonder if they wil have them out before CES?

This will be the second time the unit will be at CES. Previously it was at CES under the name of Vercel a few years ago but it was never shipped. I vaguely recall seeing it at CES, and I’d ssay the screen was about 5 inches on the diagonal.

I have been wanting a small size full touch type keyboard computer that will fit into my jacket pocket for over 5 years! If this device is for sale it might be a device I would buy right now. To me all the manufacturers have lost touch with functionality with thumb keyboards nobody likes to use or devices with no keyboard and are too large to be carried in a pocket. There is a huge market void for a device as large as the old HP Jornada (about 7 x 3.5 x 1) or anything that will fit in a typical jacket pocket (about 4″ wide or so) that has a real keyboard.

I would def. be a purchaser of these mobile device. I’m planning to load up on company stock which is trading real low now.
