The Xbox 360 is dead. At least that’s the firm belief of several major retailers in Australia. Apparently they’re only stocking the console because of their relationship with Microsoft. Seems like the Land Down Under must be filled with PS3 and Wii lovers.
According to a recent survey of 10 video game retailers in Australia (which make up around 2,000 of the gaming stores) sales of Microsoft’s current-gen gaming console are so poor that some places are considering dropping it from their shelves entirely. They cite RRoD issues as being one of the major causes for poor sales.
Something doesn’t quite sit right with me on this one. I can’t imagine that the 360 is actually doing so bad that retailers would consider pulling it from their shelves. Then again, I’ve never been to Australia, and I don’t really know how great their selection of titles are for the 360. Either way, I sincerely hope that the 360 sticks around down there.

The xbox 360 isnt failing in Australia it’s sold 360,000 consoles and the game selection is huge in every gaming shop i walk into, everything thats out in Amercia (going by allgame.com) is available here.
the PS3 has sold less than it and both consoles only came out here in 2006. Also people should note fan boys of playstation are 1 of 2 reasons why the console has sold any units at all. the 2nd reason being the ps3 is the cheapest blu ray player on our market… oh yeah a big retail chain of home entertainment goods (don’t remember the name, but remember the TV ads) did a promotion around Christmas time 2007 here, That every person who buys a Sony Plasma tv would get a free Ps3 included. Hows that for desperate.
The Xbox 360 is making sales without gimmicks. I don’t call that a failure.
Everyone knew Xbox 360 wasn’t going to last long enough. They got no decent games just FPS crap. PLAYSTATION 3 is selling more than Xbox 360 now and has better games better exclusive something Xbox 360 doesn’t have this year…
The 360 has a REAL and happy fan base thats more worried about being WITHOUT their xbox 360 for a few weeks than the fact that it broke down at all. This speaks volumes about the product Microsoft has in its 360. All the paid off talking heads and Wii/Sony fans can hold their breath until they pass out…and the 360 will still be there leading the way.
Just got mi-self a 4OGB PS3 with 8 titles from JB HiFi. They gave me an awesome discount on everything. Also, payed a bit ova 5Gs 4 a 52″ Bravia (XBR) from Retravision - nearly $500 cheaper than at Harvey Norman). Damn, do those two work well together!

Oh, back onto the topic, I doubt very much the 360 is finished. After all, every country has its digbats who will go and waste money on such an inferior product.
