When you ask most people (non-fanboys that is) what the biggest issue with the PS3 is, you’ll generally get one of two answers. Either they’ll tell you that there aren’t enough good games out, or that the price is too high. If sources are correct, price may not be such a huge issue come this holiday season.

80GB PS3

An insider at Sony has pegged a price break in the 80GB PS3 to the tune of $100. This is good, because we already know that the 60GB models that currently hold the $499 price bracket are in short supply. The really big news is that they are supposedly going to re-release a 40GB model for only $399. Now that would definitely make them sell.

PS2

The good news doesn’t stop with the PS3, the rumors also include a price break for the still-popular PS2. We would finally see it hit the $99 price point in time for the holidays. I for one really hope that this rumor turns out to be true. I might just have to consider getting a PS3 at that price.

Wow the new 40 GB model should be nice and it will defintely be cheaper which is always a good thing. As when I first heard the price of the PS3 I knew not many would sell.
