So we’ve been hearing flickers of rumors about a supposed Android-powered Acer smartphone coming in the near future, but now an official from the company itself is confirming the rumor: the A1 is expected to be released sometime in September.

The A1 will feature a touchscreen, but other than that, we’re sparse on the details. All we know is that an Acer executive recently told the Business Mirror that this phone would be happening, along with three others in September of this year. But since the exec wasn’t even really supposed to say anything about, that’s all we know for now.

Acer is expected to have 5% of the smartphone market that runs Android by the time 2010 rolls around. So that’s that for now. But hey, a tidbit of information is better than no information at all!
