In a lot of ways piracy is more beneficial to industry than harmful. A lot of people will still purchase movies, music, games, and software that they really like. It tends to be the stuff that we wouldn't necessarily buy anyway that gets illegally downloaded, which actually exposes these people to something which they otherwise wouldn't have bothered with. The benefit then being that they will buy the product when the opportunity arises.

Take for instance a movie that's out in the cinemas. If you are really interested in a movie you will pay the money and go and see it at the cinemas, rather than sitting at home and watching some crappy cam version. You might however download something that's out at the cinemas that you're not all that interested in paying to go and see, just to give it a go. You might then discover that you really like this movie and you then buy it when it comes out on Blu-Ray!

RIAA is an acronym of which the first word begins with a consonant sound (that is, "record"). So the grammar is technically correct either way, depending on how you read it. :-p
