Roku TV to launch on Smart TVs from Hisense and TCL

Way back in January, we got our first glimpse of Roku's Smart TV platform at CES 2014. More than half a year later, that platform — Roku TV — has found a home on Hisense and TCL televisions, and will be shipping on a total of eight upcoming models in the near future.

Roku TV is a platform similar to the interface you get with one of the company's set-top boxes, only shipping with Smart TVs as their integrated software offering. Roku has announced that the platform will be launched on televisions launching soon from TCL and Hisense.

As the video above shows, users will get a personalized home screen, and will be able to toggle through channels and content through menus using a remote. There's search for finding content — the same as with the set-top box version — and compatibility with the company's mobile apps for iOS and Android.

Hisense will be releasing four televisions running the software: a 40-inch model, as well as models measuring in at 48-inches, 50-inches, and 55-inches. The TCL models, meanwhile, will measure in at 32-inches, 40-inches, 48-inches, and 55-inches. The Hisense will be available in late September, while the TCL models are less definitive and will be available "in the coming weeks".

Prices start at $229 USD.
