Rockstar GameSpy effects: GTA, Max Payne, Red Dead Redemption

It's time to roll out the changes with the GameSpy closure taking place at the end of May. Game crew after game crew are making clear the list of games that'll be affected by GameSpy's removal of services from the marketplace, this affecting not just multiplayer gaming for many games, but 3rd party services as well. Today, it's RockStar's turn.

There are a number of titles that'll be affected by GameSpy's closure within the Rockstar collection by the end of May, 2014. One game that will not be affected in any way is Grand Theft Auto V – aka Grand Theft Auto 5.

Grand Theft Auto IV / GTAIV Complete / GTA Episodes from Liberty City, on the other hand, will have Social Club website stat tracking and leaderboards removed. They'll also have in-game multiplayer leaderboards removed from the PlayStation 3 version of the game only. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable only) will have all Social Club features removed entirely.

As for Red Dead Redemption / RDR Game of the Year Edition / RDR Undead Nightmare, in-game multiplayer leaderboards will be removed from the PlayStation 3 version of the game only. In-game Social Club services as well as Social Club website stat tracking and leaderboards will be removed.

NOTE: If online multiplayer is not mentioned for the game you love, you're in luck – it's not affected.

Midnight Club Los Angeles / MCLA Complete Edition has its PlayStation 3 version's online multiplayer removed as well as in-game multiplayer leaderboards. As for all other versions of the game, Social Club website features and account liking will be removed. In-game "Rate My Ride" and "Driving Test" unlocks are also removed from all versions of the game.

Finally you'll find Social Club website features removed from Beaterator along with in-game track uploads and downloads. Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition / MC3: Dub Edition Remix will also have online multiplayer gameplay and leaderboards removed.

This all takes place on the 31st of May – and there may be more removed in the future! Stay tuned as we keep our finger on the pulse of this widespread GameSpy drop.
