It’s not all that uncommon to see a CD that has music from or inspired by a particular movie. It is less common, however to see the same thing based on a video game. Then again most video games don’t have killer soundtracks. Of course that can’t be said about Grand Theft Auto IV, which is why Rockstar is announcing an album based on the game.

Liberty City Invasion: Music from and Inspired by Grand theft Auto IV is an original production from The Evil Genius DJ Green Lantern, which includes 8 tracks from the Liberty City Invasion show in the game, as well as eight new tracks which are inspired by the game.
This really isn’t my kind of music, but I think it’s awesome to see artists getting so involved with games like this. I mean, why should movies be the only things that get kick-ass soundtracks?

is it just me or is the worst soundtrack they’ve had in all the modern GTA’s? i’ve only heard 1 or 2 cool songs. even the funny commentary/commercials aren’t that great either. seems they spent extra time on most everything else, but not the radio stations. the TV stations are funny, but can’t be watched whilst running people over.
methinks this is because they are gonna start charging for better stations to download. didn’t san andreas have a boxset CD collection of like 50 CDs? grrr. i hate microtransactions, but they got me by the balls for better radio stations.
of course music artists are flocking to this, it’s 100% money they are actually going to make. rock band and guitar hero are making artists CASH, cause the kids aren’t getting it for free.
