Rocket League heads to Neo Tokyo for June update

Rocket League developer Psyonix has announced the details on the upcoming June update for the hit soccer-with-RC-cars game. Available for free on June 20th, the update will introduce a new arena, "Neo Tokyo," featuring a neon-drenched, cybperunk-inspired take on the metropolis. There's several new features as well, such as a new play mode and the ability to trade-in items, along with two new DLC cars that can be purchased separately.

Serious Rocket League players may recognize the new Neo Tokyo stadium, as it's actually a reworking of Underpass, which was previously available in the Rocket Labs playlist. The new Pillars mode, however, introduces two walls to make getting across the field a bit more challenging, while unwanted or duplicate cosmetic items can be traded in for rarer, more desirable gear.

Also fun are the new post-game celebrations, which allows the winning team's cars to jump, spin, and make other movements as a way to show off. The two new Neo Tokyo-designed DLC cars are Masamune and Esper, and will be available for $1.99 each starting July 18th.

For players who are looking to jump into Rocket League for the first time, a physical edition of the game will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on July 5th (June 24th in Europe). Along with previously released content, the physical release will include the Neo Tokyo stadium, and early access to the two previous DLC cars, along with two more — Aftershock and Marauder (also available separately on July 18th).
