Robot hits hole-in-one, puts other golfers to shame

Everyone has something that they're good at. Something that they've practiced for years, and done their best to perfect. And sometimes someone else comes along that's new to whatever that activity is, and puts you to shame. Well, golfers everywhere will be disappointed to see a new robot roll up to the tee and sink a hole-in-one.

I'm not much of a golfer, so I get pretty excited when I sink a hole-in-one on the putt-putt course. Knowing how difficult that is, I have a lot of respect for anyone that can sink one on from the tee. And well, now I have newfound respect for a robot named LDRIC (pronounced Eldrick).

This particular robot was designed to play three different sports, including golf. It can mimic the swing of virtually anyone, and can hit the ball up to 130 mph (that's 5 mph faster than Tiger Woods can hit). Well, the robot stepped (well, rolled) up to the tee, and fired off a swing on the 16th hole of the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona on Wednesday. It managed to sink a hole-in-one, which put it up there with likes of Francesco Molinari and Tiger Woods.

Granted, LDRIC took five attempts to nail the hole-in-one, which might diminish the feat in some people's eyes. However, I can guarantee that if I spent the day on that hole, my arms would give out long before I managed to sink one from the tee.
