It’s a sad day in gaming today. According to Nintendo’s Senior Vice President of Marketing George Harrison, the Game Boy may very well be dead.

Game Boy

I think at one point or another, almost every gamer had some incarnation of the Game Boy. I personally had an original, then jumped up to a GBA a little while back. However, as much as we all loved the Game Boy, Harrison said recently that “it’s hard to say in the future if we will ever bring back the Game Boy trademark.”

He doesn’t rule out the possibility of a new one in the future, but don’t get your hopes up. I’m not too upset about this move, as some things need to be laid to rest. All they are doing is retiring the name, as they’ve proved that mobile gaming is growing stronger every day with the sales of the DS.
