they need leadership to use the tools that they have at their disposal in every aspect that can help them build differentiated and competative products as well as build developer partnerships to support a QNX ecosystem that will also spark differentiation and compelling user features.
The need executives that can drive these goals ag a high level and roll up their sleeves to get involved at the tactical level. Instead, they hide behind a fantasy that international growth is a success story and that the company's trajectory is on target. (They should look at their growth relative to Apple and Google- I think that RIM's shareholders will be dismayed to learn that RIM is still in 3rd place everywhere they claim success)

I don't understand why all the cynicism: clearly with QNX RIM has a winning OS platform that needs further development and polish... and handsets powerful enough to run it on.

That's the direction they're heading... and perhaps this piece was written before they announced that they were shelving the 10 inch PlayBook in favor of applying those resources to their next-gen handset development... I guess now it's a race for relevance: if they can deliver a powerful polished QNX-based handheld in a couple of different form-factors, backed up by third-party apps, I believe they stand more than a fair chance of staying relevant.
