I know for me and probably many others, I would hesitate getting a Playbook just because I’m not sure how committed RIM is to the device. If they were aggressively making software update after software update and releasing 3 new versions of the Playbook device, it would at least look like their really pushing hard to compete. Instead there has only been one Playbook and it initially was missing things like native email support until just recently – it makes me wonder whether RIM itself is not sure whether it wants to continue with the Playbook.

My advice for RIM, “Go big or go home!” In order to compete in the tablet market, with all the new entrants that keep popping up and Windows 8 getting closer, they really need to invest in that platform and make it a top-tier tablet competitor, push the envelope, and develop features that customers desire that the iPad and Androids don’t have. If they’re not willing to do that, might as well just give up on the whole thing.

At $200, it kicks the butt of the Kindle Fire. Faster, better browser, better screen, better speakers…..even has cameras.

Why so biased. in 200 $ it is a steal. new OS is super fast, responsive, intuitive and amazing new gesture controls. I like Playbook more than any Android tablet in market today. I will admit iPad is better than Playbook, but if you consider cost in the equation, Playbook is the best tablet to buy today. take my word on this.

RIM will always maintain a level if respectibility when it comes to sokid hardware and a reasonable amount of support. what they are knockedon, and deservedly so, is their dinosaur ways of product thought process and a rigid aadherance to only developing oroduct that will imoress legacy RIM customers without any regard to building a product that truky competes with iOS or Android. innovation and legavy are RIM’s greatest detriments and continues as they release “too little too late” products

If you can get one for 199.99 or less its a great deal. RIM should be attempting to get one at this price point and be profitable. RIM also needs to create apps available for business and teach customers how they help. For consumers they need unique video service, music service, and cloud to go with messenger service.

Keep in mind that you are probebly counting the models they gave away for $200

They really souldnt count towards the finial number of devices sold to be fair….. and also keep in mind that the models they DID sell was more or less to corporatitions

As far as cosumers buying the play book at its original price, $500, it probebly did not over sell the prime but im just guessing and could be wrong

I have an Ipad, Galaxy Tab, and bought a used Playbook awhile back for cheap, BB Playbook is by far the best software for multitasking then the other two, just lack apps.

Btw Playbook sold more than Transformer primes and galaxy tabs last quarter. they sold 650,000 and shipped 500,000. They sold more as they cleared existing inventory

You don’t mention the recent major update that fixed most of the issues such as E-mail. Maybe it’s too little and too late, but for the cost it’s not a bad device compared to others in the same price range.
