Sorry but the person you talked to is either a idiot or they simply meant they don't support another company's device issues and you should call the carrier instead for support. Many of these tech support can't answer any question that isn't in the manual in front of them. I've even had tech support from IBM not even know what a DVD drive was. So don't take a statement from them like this as fact because it's practically impossible to make a WiFi device not work with a particular WiFi source.

So there's no reason for the Playbook to not work on any WiFi network and a problem with MiFi would have been reported by a lot of people on the crackberry and other RIM message boards if there was actually no support.

If anything the only thing not supported would be a direct USB connection with the MiFi as hosting probably still requires rooting to enable.

Otherwise, check the MiFi for issues and test the Playbook with other WiFi hot spots. It's either a configuration issue, encryption problem, or one of them is not working as they should.

If you recently updated to the 2.0 OS for the Playbook then double check the installation as some have reported issues if the update didn't go smoothly for any reason and had to do it again.

What are you talking about? You can use a Playbook with a MiFi just like you can any other WiFi device.

I've even used the Playbook with my Android Phone in WiFi tether mode with no issues. Really, RIM has enough real problems without anyone making up BS imaginary ones.

so ironic and sad. RIM has intentionally or clumsily handicapped the wifi Playbook to be 100%incomoatible to Verizon, Sprint, ATT, or TMobile's data networks via wifi cards. as of today, the Playbook remains the onky tablet on planet earth that does not support mifi cards for mobile broadband users. Huawei has the upper hand on RIM when it comes to connectivity. Perhaps, RIM is saving features for later, like all of their products (email, web browsing.., you know... keep these precious features away from its customers and spring them later as a strategy approach.)

Depends, if it's not integrated then they could customize for region as needed. While it also depends who they're sourcing the modem from...

Qualcomm for example has its fifth generation Gobi
platform for mobile baseband, which is suppose to
support multiple LTE standards.

Which of the 38 possible LTE frequencies does RIM plan to enable with their new 4G playbooks (see the problem with anything LTE?). RIM just can't have a US/Canada-only approach, or they will continue to lose marketshare and global mindshare.
