Retractable speakers keep your ceiling sleek and your ears amused

It may look like a length of drainpipe with a bend at the bottom, but this my chickadees is SpeakerCraft's latest attempt to get you to install a surround-sound audio system.  Targeted one would imagine at fans of the minimalist style as well as those for whom the sight of excessive AV equipment offends their eyes, the TIME Five in-ceiling speakers perform the party-tricktastic action of angling down from their mount and twisting to the optimum position for audio, retracting when you're finished listening.

Capable of being preset to a variety of angles (15º , 30º or 45º) and directions (it can rotate 320º), the TIME Five also comes with a remote control so that those unable to stop fiddling can have fingertip access to tweak it around.  An 8-inch Kevlar woofer and 1-inch aluminium/magnesium tweeter take care of the sound side of things, and the whole caboodle is timbre-matched to the company's AIM Five speaker range.  Each unit costs $749.99.
