Retina MacBook Air tipped for 2014

Over the weekend, tips surfaced claiming a 12-inch fanless MacBook Air is in the works, of which it would be thinner and smaller than the currently available options. Following this, word has surfaced through DigiTimes that Apple plans to release a Retina version of the MacBook Air this year.

There aren't many details in the latest rumor, but according to "Taiwan-based supply chain makers", Apple plans to launch a Retina MacBook Air, though whether it is the 12-inch model tipped this past weekend was not stated either way (hints of this also surfaced last autumn). The launch is said to be the second half of this year.

The sources also said that MacBook shipments are expected to decrease by 15-percent this year to 10 million units or less, and that while January and February shipments numbers were on mark, shipment numbers have "significantly decreased" this month.

The sources also mention Apple planning to launch a 12-inch iPad, which we've heard in past rumors that it has since been shelved due to various issues. As always, the information is from anonymous sources and nothing official has been stated, so take it all with a grain of salt.
