Retina 5K iMac hits Apple's refurbished site

That all-new Retina 5K iMac is a sight to behold. The screen itself is awe inspiring awesome, and will definitely spoil you for all other monitors if you look at it too long. Apple's new desktop machine isn't just pretty, though. Under the hood, there are some mean specs that keep things plugging along no matter what tasks you toss at it. The asking price of $2,499 (for the base model) puts the dreams in check, but the newest iMac is now available refurbished — and cheaper.

If you head into Apple's refurbished device site, you can pick up a new desktop starting at $2,119. For just over two grand, you'll get a 27-inch screen with 5120 x 2880 resolution, a whopping 8GB memory, 1TB Fusion drive, and an AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics processor with 2GB GDDR5 memory. An Intel i5 processor is also on-board.

For $300 more (and still $80 less than the price for a new base model), you can bump that 8GB memory up to 16GB, and triple your drive capacity.

A good deal? That's subjective, but for those in the market for a top-end desktop all-in-one, it's not bad. Apple's refurbished items are also covered by their one-year warranty, and are about as good as new. So long as you are okay with a device that didn't pass first inspection off the production line, this might be the deal you've been waiting for.
