Batteries can take up most of the space in a device... So wires won't help unless the battery can be placed somewhere where shape doesn't matter but that could also limit the size of the battery.

A wrist watch Smart Phone for example, flexible battery could be put into the wrist strap to allow for much more capacity than presently possible... Flexible also tends to means safer as it'll be harder to damage!

That said, better power density and lower cost would be nice but I won't hold my breath waiting for it.

Can't say I agree. If the author wanted to relate to consumer experiences without using dreaded physical units, s/he could have writeen something like "lasts as long as conventional Li-ion batteries of the same weight" or "a one ounce battery can power 30 minutes of talk time on a typical cell phone." As written I can't derive any meaning at all. A good battery might be one that lasts 2 years or one that lasts 30 minutes depending on the use. What meaning did you derive?

How many volts at how many amps for how many hours at what weight and volume at what price.

Re; Utility of shape changing battery : There is this thing called a wire. It makes it unnecessary for the battery to change shape.

What WOULD be useful in a battery? Power density. High C. Low $.

Seems like the author is trying to relate the battery's use time to something that normal folks can relate to, like a cell phone or laptop computer's battery rather than go into "energy per unit weight or energy per volume" or other mathematical discharge models. If you want hard science in your articles, maybe look at less populous-driven websites.

Regarding: "...battery is said to be rechargeable, and to last about eight to nine hours on a single charge." What possible meaning does this have? There's no such thing as a standard discharge rate so one can't judge whether 8-9 hours is great or terrible. Quote instead, please, how it compares to the average commercial Li-ion battery in terms of energy per unit weight or energy per volume.
