Redmi Note 2 and Mi Wi-Fi Nano launch in China

About this time last month the Redmi Note 2 smartphone was crossing TENAA to get the certifications it needed to launch. When that device showed up it was missing the fingerprint scanner that we had expected to see it bear. If you liked what you saw at TENAA, and happen to live in China the Redmi Note 2 is launching today.

The global launch for the smartphone will happen on August 19. The smartphone brings with it MIUI 7 operating system that promises to be faster and more efficient than previous versions. The smartphone has a MTK Helio X10 2.0GHz octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

The screen is a 5.5-inch full HD resolution unit and the smartphone has a 13MP rear camera with PDAF autofocus. Power comes from a 3060 mAh removable battery that can be replaced on the go for more runtime away from an outlet. The Redmi Note 2 has 4G dual SIM capability.

Pricing for the smartphone in China is RMB 799 for the 16GB version. The Redmi Note 2 Prime will sell for RMB 999 with Helio X10 2.2GHz octa-core processor and 32GB of storage. Another product lancing in China today is the Mi Wi-Fi Nano selling for RMB 79. That is a small router that isn't much larger than a business card.
