It’s considered open because it’s open source software, not because you can side load apps.

How “open”do they really intend it to be, in that repsect, when the browser needs a hack to download apks? (enable browser downloads in astro)

This is really too bad. Reddit is fun community, things are clearly labeled NSFW when they are so, and cutting off this app opens up a dangerous pandora’s box of content control.

They should also yank Google Reader, Chrome, Firefox, Skype, Google Voice, and Craigslist apps since those equally can be used to view sexual content.

Please read the Google Play TOS. Google Play is not part of open source Android. I’m sure similar things have been repeated ad infinitum about the Android Market.

And keep in mind you can always sideload whatever you want, which is why Android is considered open in the first place.

“Everyone else is doing it too” is not a valid argument when you know your app was in fact violating the terms of service. Please fix your app and resubmit it via the instructions in your e-mail.
