It’s a sad state of affairs when you can’t trust registered health-care professionals. I went to an osteopath the other day, and he couldn’t keep his hands off me. Needless to say, I’ll be saving my money and buying one of these Verté chairs from office furniture specialists Anthro – the Geiger-esque posture conforming spines are first locked to your ideal stance and then, over time, your muscles learn to maintain that. The leather cushions are gel-filled for even support without the flattening of traditional padding, and the structure is made of brushed aluminium.

The Verté is available now, priced at $1,500.
