Motorola’s Razr2 was released earlier this fall without much of a bang. But it’s still one of the slickest flip phones on the market. I’ll be taking a look at the T-mobile version of the phone, and touching on its finer points.

Starting off with the body and form. The solid metal body makes the phone nice and heavy. All the external keys are pretty small and it’s hard to tell if you’re pushing them or not. Motorola solved this by adding Haptic feedback – a small vibration whenever it registers a key indentation. But lack of dedicated camera button, made accessing a bit of a chore.

I got a chance to take it out on the town and test the call quality. The Incoming-outgoing voice quality was great in almost all areas, and overall reception was strong.

The audio quality for the MP3 player was a little below par in my opinion, but when the speaker is being used in a call it sounds pretty solid.

I really like the big, bright internal, and external screen. They make navigation a snap and they perform relatively well in direct sunlight. The external screen also has a strip along the bottom edge that is touch sensitive that allows you to control your music playback.

The element that really sets the T-mobile Razr2 apart is its lack of an expandable memory card slot. The phone actually has two gigs of storage built right in for all your storage needs. You may or may not like this, it’s pretty easy to fill two gigs these days. But it’s nice to be able to load the phone with music without dropping an extra chunk of change on a micro SD card.

Overall, I was impressed with the speed of the phone. It has the killer aesthetic that everyone loved in the original Razr. If you’re in need of a super compact phone, with basic functionality, you might want to pick up a new Motorola Razr2. I give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Thanks for the helpful review. I may get my husband one, so he wont have to carry his huge treo everywhere!

Mmm…seems the same…although it has new tweaks but I don’t think it’ll make a huge bang overall…Razr’s are getting old…mainly Motorolla’s deal with T-mobile as free phones with a plan. I’d rather stick with a PDA phone as a businessman. Motorolla needs to make a new series… with a new design…that will surely make a huge impact. Their designs are far too similar to its older gen phones.

The original Razr was one of the worst if not the worst phone I had ever seen working at Verizon. Motorola in general has problems, I think years back when they made the StarTac somebody realized its not good business to make phones that last. If the new one is even one percent like the old one, there will be problems. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy one, if your all about looks and not about function or necessity, they have at it, I personally would never buy a Motorola product even if you paid me.

I like the razr because it’s small and a flip phone. I hate candybar phones because they always get scratched and broken in my pocket. I hate PDA phones because they don’t fit well in my pocket and I only ever use them to make calls (I don’t even text, I hate texting!) . For me the razr is perfect, it’s a flip phone so it doesn’t get scratched in my pocket (or accidentally call someone), and it’s just the right size that it fits well. My current one has been dropped quite a bit and is starting to show a little wear so I’m really interested in seeing if the metal body on the new razr2 will allow it to hold up a little better (current one is fine, but has a few dings here and there, nothing major).

Ok. I am SICK of hearing that this phone isn’t good. I just got it like ……a MONTH ago and have already dropped it (on cement) three or four times. There is only a tiny ding.

The battery life holds up well for a phone that can do mp3 and camera and such.

Those people who complain about expandable memory blah blah….NEWS FLASH you can upload your pics onto your COMP! and if you need more…get a ipod or a camera! ITS A PHONE FOR GODSAKES NOT A ROCKETSHIP! It is very fast and performs well.

I’m a texter and a caller and i find that it suits my needs PERFECTLY.

The only people who WONT like this phone are the lazy ones because they don’t have time to upload and wipe off a fingerprint or two. The double screen is fabulous because i can answer all of my SMS messages w/o flipping the lid.

i like flip phones but always worry that they’ll break, this one has a strong hinge.

and you really dont need more than a 2mp….otherwise get a digicam.

uploading music was made REALLY easy and again….all you need to do is read a sentence or two in the manual. GOSH! …..only complaint is the usb cover ( not sturdy inconvienient place)
