Range Rover SVAutobiography debuts at New York Auto Show

Range Rover has rolled out its new flagship model at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. The new model is called the Range Rover SVAutobiography and it replaces the old flagship that was called the Autobiography Black at the top of the range. SVAutobiography models are produced exclusively by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations.

Power for the SUV comes from a 550hp Supercharged V8 engine that was specifically tuned for the vehicle. Power goes to the ground from that big V8 via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SVAutobiography will be available with two-tone paint to complement the bespoke interior of the car.

That big supercharged V8 produces 502 lb-ft of torque and while the torque and HP figures are up 40hp and 41 lb-ft compared to the previous high-end engine, the efficiency of the V8 remains the same. This was accomplished with a Roots-type twin vortex supercharger and a Bosch engine management system.

Inside the car, some of the parts are machined from solid aluminum. Passengers in the back have a beverage chiller compartment with power deployed tables. Pricing for the SVAutobiography starts at $199,495. The full 2016 Range Rover line will be available to purchase this fall.
