Qualcomm's Yamada Makoto talks MediaFLO viewing for iPad

Qualcomm chairman and president Yamada Makoto has been talking about the companies MediaFLO service. MediaFLO is the tech behind the mobile broadcasting service used by Verizon and AT&T here in the US.

Qualcomm is set to unveil a new device for MediaFLO content called the PocketFLO that is now in prototype form and is performing well. PocketFLO is a device that will integrate with MediaFLO acting as a tuner and then shoot that content via WiFi to the iPad for viewing. The PocketFLO device is very small.

The system will apparently use an app on the iPad for viewing, the PocketFLO device can record the programs, and Twitter is integrated for communication. Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs has also recently stated that the company has no plans to spin off MediaFLO as reports have recently suggested. Jacobs said, "We are not shutting down MediFLO."
