Q Entertainment sheds light on Lumines game for PlayStation Vita

It may not be the most amazing game that's been released in the 21st century. Heck, it doesn't even really have any characters or storyline. Yet Lumines has been heralded as one of the most enjoyable games on the PSP, and it's set to be one of the biggest entries on the impending PlayStation Vita. The company behind the addicting puzzle title, Q Entertainment, has brought forth some new details about this next installment.

Lumines Electronic Symphony will take full advantage of the Vita's unique touch panel on the back of the device, making it easier for players to move and position blocks onto the play field. Other new additions include special skills that are unlocked as players collect new avatars, and a graphical overhaul that will turn the flat 2D blocks into much more visually pleasing 3D cubes. The core gameplay, however, remains unchanged.

The brain-busting finger-twisting bundle of joy is scheduled to be available as a launch title for the Vita, which is due out late next month. It will be one of the rare franchises to be available at launch for both the PSP and the Vita. Make sure you have enough hair to pull out and enough time to kill before you pick up your copy.
