Pushbullet pins price to formerly free features

The app Pushbullet begins attempting to monetize its services by adding a "Pro" plan to its roster, making formerly free features cost cash. Soon the Angel investments made by pockets-full investors will no longer cover the costs of the device-to-device message and file-sharing service Pushbullet. Instead, users will be paying $40 a year or a cool $5 a month for the service – for some of the service's features, that is to say. If you're in Pushbullet too deep, you might have to open your pocketbook.

Pushbullet is still "free." You can still send files up to 25MB in size, you can still send links. You get 2GB of storage space for free, and you can mirror your phone's notifications for free – to your PC, that is. You get optional end-to-end encryption and API access and you're able to "follow interesting things with Channels" if you do so desire.

One limitation of the standard account on Pushbullet now is being able to only send 100 messages with the service per month. That's through your computer to your smartphone using SMS, Kik, WhatsApp, and etcetera. A Pro account gives you unlimited messaging.

With a Pro account you'll also get 100GB of storage space, and you'll have the ability to send files up to 1GB in size.

This Pro account also gives you "universal copy and paste" as well as mirrored notification action support. You'll also have "Priority Support" from Pushbullet with a Pro account.

Again, as Android Police suggests, the free ride is over. Sort of. If you're just a basic Pushbullet user, you're probably going to be fine with a free account. If you're an addict, it's time to pay up.
