It looks like Sony wasn’t kidding when they said the PSP-3000 would have an improved LCD screen. Famitsu posted some photographs of the PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 side by side and you can definitely see a noticeable difference between the two.
As you may have noticed from the picture, with the exception of the display the PSP-3000 looks for the most part exactly like the PSP-2000. The PSP-3000 is reported to have an LCD with five times the contrast ratio, double the gamut, and double the response time. In addition to the improved screen the device will also have a built-in microphone, with better quality than the previous add-on mic.
The PSP-3000 is expected to arrive in Europe on October 15th for an MSRP around $291. No US release date or pricing has been announced.

You need to realize what people like dark alex (if he is even a real person) are for, they are there to open and enhance the actual unit. The psp has capabilities of a computer a true PC or Laptop. These things you consider “hacks” are actually a much better way of enhancing the true value of a PSP. (exp. modifiers have made it capable for psp to read .pdf files, without mods that would be impossible). There are plenty of games for the psp, but if you buy a new game every day or week it will get repetitive (that is what you are experincing). Modders are not needed, instead they are wanted by the large majority of psp gamers who would rather take full advantage of the psp. It’s ignorance like yours that make modders question there true value in the psp market. I’m here to say they are indeed respected, if you don’t like the games on the PSP maybe you should start hacking the PSP and find out the true capabilities of this amazing unit. Respect is deserved for everyone no matter how much other people disagree with them.

That photoshoot was obviously rigged in favour of the PSP 3000.
+4The lighting was positioned so that it causes more glare on the older PSP 2000.
Just look at the d-pad and buttons on either sides of the screen. You can see the plastic on the PSP 2000 has way more light reflecting off it.

I agree with “dislike for disrespectful people”. It’s because the PSP can be used in an enhanced way and run homebrew software that I bought allready 3 PSP’s (2 fat, 1 slim). And YES I also buy games. But only if they are worth buying, so manufacturers should make quality games. If the PSP cannot be hacked, manufacturers will come up with crap and low quality games coz you cannot test their shit before you buy it. And if the software is crap, the machine you run it on will be crap.

On the photo you see 2 PSP slim. PSP 3000 has a build-in microphone. The hole should be somewhere next to the volume buttons. Can’t see anything there….

Why are there people that’s so pathetic and can’t accept the fact that there would always be one that’s better, that new ones are made with improvements. Just use brick games if you’ll just keep comparing the original psp and the slim one. thats sony’s marketing strategy. if you’re not going to get one then just shut the hell up. and another thing if you dont like the way the photo was taken, then do one that would satisfy yourself. stop complaining guys!

The cold truth is PSP hackers are the sole reason why PSP game sales are down the shithole. When people download the ISO’s of whatever game they want and put it in their psp, whoes actually buying the game? Game developers will eventually realize that there is no profit in making games for the PSP and just stop making games. I give my respect to the game makers, and consumers who actually buy the game. Not to some poor ass kids who think they are “hackers” cuz they know how to download psp ISO’s and transfer it in.

So I am guessing you have no burned CDs or movies either? With that argument, artists would stop making CDs, and directors/producers would stop making movies because of the ability to download/rip music and burn it to your own media. regardless of “hacking” the psp to play ISOs or not, there will still ALWAYS be a market that purchases the games, just like the music and movie industry. Some just dont care about spending the 14.99-49.99 for the games and buy them. others just dont have the knowledge/skill to “hack” the PSP so they will also be buyers.
for those ranting that the picture is “doctored”, very untrue. the design of the 3000 has anti-glare now built into the screen and the light reflections are showing up on the outter part of the unit in the same lighting direction of the 2000. a friend has the 2000 and I recently picked up the 3000 and the picture quality is definitely noticeable in quality.

I agree that the position of the psp is not that good. The lighting is not that good. PSP 3000 really has a better screen than PSP 2000 but the PSP 2000 pic up there has reflections of light. That only means that it’s just to boast compare PSP 2000 and PSP 3000 sarcastically.
